Commuter playlist!!

so a few days ago i posted about how awesomely my music blends in with the city sounds around my workplace, and [info]scdsam suggested that i create a playlist for the downtown life... well, ask and ye shall receive!

I kinda fudged it a bit so this is more of a "Transit Life" playlist, a set of songs that fit my trips on the train to and from work, walking on the streets around my office building, etc etc.. you'll notice the songs all have a similar type of sound, but really not much else in common.  I didn't choose these for the lyrics (except the last one), only for the fact that sirens and cars whizzing by and ppl chattering on the street and in train cars blend in really well with the music itself. So without further ado:

Songs for the Downtown Commuter

The Dandy Warhols - Sleep (rush hour traffic, automated doors opening and closing, this is how we begin and end all of our days)
Jimmy Eat World - My Sundown (this one is nice to listen to when staring out the window of the train with the rhythm of the railroad tracks rumbling beneath your feet)
Switchfoot - Dare You to Move (for the rush of people getting on and off the trains and hurrying up and down the street)
Angels & Airwaves - The Adventure (walking into the office for a brand new day, coffee in hand, bounce in your step, a flurry of productivity; cars honk on the street below your window and the shiny silver express train thunders across the rail bridge)
Revis - Everything After (lunchtime! ppl bustling in and out of the office, chatting, laughing; drivers honking impatiently at crowds ambling slowly on the crosswalk, rushing back for meetings and lunch meetings)
Placebo - Sleeping with Ghosts (walking past the hospital after dark, the flourescent lights glowing in the windows and ambulances crying in the distance)
Fort Minor - Slip (leaving work late night, strolling down quiet streets while cars zoom past and ppl try to have conversations from opposite sides of the street)
Fatboy Slim - Wonderful Night (for Fridays at 5 pm)
Death Cab for Cutie - Passenger Seat (my dad picks me up from the train station at the end of the day and drives me home)

As usual, all songs (in addition to many others) are posted on mediafire for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!

Crossposted to [info]fst

So since [info]fst is a member-locked community, I thought I would pimp the soundtrack I made for my Ordinary fic arc here on my journal as well. This has been 6 years in the making, people!! Thank god for Anything Goes Month! (Also, many thanks go to [info]coley_merrin and
[info]zapenstap  who checked out the tracklist for me and helped me figure out which songs should be included in this monster ^^)

Is this considered gratuitous self-pimpage? )</div>

Fun meme!!

1. Music Player > Shuffle
2. Take first line of 20 songs
3. Make poem

Well, I've got a candle
I caught a glimpse
She comes down to Georgia
She is smilin' like heaven is down on earth

I love the way you wake up
Just a lazy cat in a dog eat dog world
Listen as your day unfolds
It's the season of grace coming out of the void

Do you remember when we were just kids
The sidewalk bends
Time keeps on slipping
They're tearing up streets again

Need to know if you're letting go
Every time we lie awake
Do not get me wrong
Will you be my favorite regret?

I have climbed the highest mountains
I am stretched on your grave
Watch your step, love is broken
Inside out, upside down, twisting beside myself

Dude.. i should totally start a band... or two

1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the
title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 - Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

Voila! )

bored...

i've pressed the refresh button on my friends-list about 15 times in the last hour... my boss is out sick today and i have no motivation to actually work... i kinda have to pee too, but i'm too lazy to get out of my chair and actually do so...

i have, however, been enjoying playing music from http://last.fm and have discovered a new band that i like... they're called athlete (http://athlete.mu) and they're sorta like death cab for cutie i guess? except they sing in spanish too (which i think is mucho cool)

i've been meaning to write a locked-post about the financial dynamic within my family... seeking advice on the subject actually... that prob won't be today.. i think i've used up my LJ posting quota for the month... and it's not even the 10th yet...

also figured out that unless i start on nano tonight, i'm prob not gonna do it this year... november is my socially busy month it seems... last weekend was spent in queens, this coming one will be in DC, and the one after that will be spent in pre-thanksgiving parties (one of which is a batman sleepover that i am soo looking forward to...what? 2+3=5, so according to basic numerology i'm still at primary school level! i'm allowed)

my thanksgiving weekend is going to be impossible (my family doesn't even really celebrate it, but i've got a wedding, a health conference and my high school reunion going on during those few days i actually have off)

so... yeah... probably no nano...

Open your Winamp, iTunes, etc.
Step 1: Put it on random.
Step 2: Pick your favourite lines from the first 20 songs that play.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from.
Step 4: Mark out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

the full report (for captain loycie)

wow i had so much fun last nite... ::high fives CT::

ok so where to start... my other friend who was gonna come, begged off to do her homework... so we had an extra ticket... i was supposed to pick up CT and her friend at 6:15...didn't end up coming around until 6:40... whoops... zoomed down rt 18 to get there... waited in a long ass line jus to get in (cuz we already had tix).. embarrassed my cohorts by announcing to the long ass line that i had an extra ticket if anyone wanted it... no one did...

finally got in, band didn't get on til 8:15 so wandered around for an hour... CT was not allowed in bar area...not even to sit on the freakin couches so we stood around with a sofa between us... i felt bad...tried to climb over the back of the couch... fell on my ass... and almost brought the sofa with me... i don't need to be drunk to act like a freak :-Þ.. got some free stuff from the SOBE table that was set up.. their new energy drink is good stuff... thornley finally got on stage... man what a stage presence... they kicked ass... the lead singer kinda reminded me of dave navarre (sp?) only hotter... much headbanging all tho the rest of the crowd seemed rather...sedated... well their loss... can't wait for the thornley cd to come out...(so i can d/l it :-Þ) i thought the single they had out was pretty good on its own but hearing them play it live is freaking awesome... singing/screaming along was mad fun too

drank some soda... took my big cup over to the SOBE table and was like, "hook me up" and they were like "smart chick" and complied without much ado... i'm all about the free stuff... three days grace came on and kicked even more ass than thornley (IMHO) and man their lead singer was cut! he was pretty lean but very nicely sculpted... we needed him to take off his shirt...but alas..no go... since i already have their cd d/led i knew much of their song lyrics already so sang along quite enthusiastically, esp knowing that the music was so loud no one could hear my voice... not even the person standing next to me ^^ had to resort to sing language when trying to communicate, it's a good thing i know how to sign 'restroom' and 'toilet' and that CT's friend kara understood me... ended up leaving early because, alas, we all had class today.. so didn't get to hear them play "i hate everything about you" but! did hear "just like you" which was really too awesome to describe... u really had to be there... we were all rocking our fists and banging to it like there was no tomorrow... i think that was the only song where the rest of the audience finally got into it...

left the place feeling like my ears were muffled, and my voice was gone... realized later that the muffled hearing made me think my voice was gone, when actually it was pretty much intact... stopped for dunkin donuts on the way back.. got coffee...which prob wasn't a good idea considered the soda and SOBE i had earlier... was on a major caffeine high but so tired that i went home and went to bed... closed my eyes and stayed awake... fell asleep a little but kept waking up... still sorta jittery ^_^;

::sigh:: so much fun... i reccomend seeing them live to anyone who has the chance... i still can't believe i only paid a buck to get in... mad nice...

i think my dreams had a soundtrack last nite..a good one at that ^_~

music..

went with [info]crystaltear  to see finger eleven play at vintage vinyl today.. somewhat disappointing as they didn't have much of a stage presence.. true it was an acoustic-based performance...but eh... i've been spoiled by studio recorded music.. i think i jus don't have any appreciation for live stuff..

got some quality time in tho..went to a diner afterwards..had good convo... i love being able to talk about lotsa topics w/ppl.. with school friends i can never mention anime or fanfiction and with some ppl online our convos never go beyond that... plus there was lots of laughing... it was good stuff... offended the waiter by asking for straws and then the perv touched my shoulder...keep ur hands to urself please..thank u... ur not getting more than 12% tip now buddy.. :-Þ

btw...uploaded some revis songs (see: playlist entry) jus to share why i like them so much... i guess they're an acquired tase or something..otherwise they'd be way more popular eh?

Look Right Through Me is my fave on the album...it has a couple minutes of cool instrumental new age stuff at the end... Everything After is another good one... if u like please let me know!! i need someone to gush with ^_~
